Beat The Summer Heat With A Chic Updo + Tutorial

The summer months can be absolutely brutal here in Texas. After a few consecutive days of 100+ degree heat, you'll be seriously contemplating chopping your locks off for a Michelle Williams-worthy pixie cut. Though these easy, breezy cropped 'dos can be super cute, you don't have to go that route to stay cool. Instead, create a sparkly and chic updo with the help of a Deepa Gurnani headband.

Want to get this princess-like chip updo? All you need is 5 minutes, a headband, and some hairspray (optional). Here's how to get the look.

1. Start with an elastic headband.
2. Place the headband on your head, positioning it 1-2 inches behind the hairline in front and over the hair in the back.
3. Take small sections of hair, and sweep them back with a slight twist. Tuck them into the headband. Take another section, including the piece that you just wrapped and tucked into the headband, and tuck that one through the elastic. Continue all the way around to the back, and tuck any extra hair into the band.
4. Check to make sure you don't have any flyaways with a mirror, and finish with a light misting of hairspray.
